Does rollering work or is it another fad?
I would say everyone who wants serious anti-ageing results, needs to be on a roller. It’s great for all skin types and conditions but those with active acne should be wary of rollers, if you pop a spot whilst rollering, the bacteria is transferred onto the roller and then transferred onto your skin again when you next roller – spreading bacteria. However, rollering is great for past acne suffers as it helps to clear up scarring and post inflammatory pigmentation (semi-permanent acne marks – purple, blue or pink in colour).
What does the rollering achieve?
The roller will get you to where you want to be with your skin, quicker (told you, it’s magic). It creates tiny 0.1 mm holes in your skin which create micro channels down to your dermis allowing all your amazing peptides, AHAs, BHAs and other active ingredients to get where they need to be. Not so much magic, as science.
When can I use it?
Your roller can be used when you are on Environ AVST 3 (first or second bottle) or on Environ C-Quence 1. This is main major benefit of going onto Environ C-Quence over your Environ AVST. You can to wait until AVST 3 to roller which can take 6 months to get to, whereas you can be rollering from your first bottle of C-Quence serum, meaning that you don’t just get all the benefits of C-Quence, but you get them on steroids! Powered into your skin but travelling through the micro channels you have created with your roller. All the benefits of C-Quence, faster!
I would say to start using the roller twice a week and then more if you feel like your skin can take it, you can also start rollering more as you move up the levels of C-Quence and AVST. Maximum usage – 7 times a week. Ideally night time use only. You can use it all over the face, especially on areas on stubborn scarring, wrinkles and pigmentation.
How can I use it?
I would first cleanse, tone and then roller in vertical, horizontal and diagonal directions – see diagrams below. And make sure that the skin is dry before rollering – any moisture will rust the roller, over time. Use a mild but firm pressure and roller for 5-10 minutes maximum. Afterwards, straightway apply your serums, moisturisers and other Vitamin A products for maximum results. Your products may feel more tingle than normal however this is completely normal. Your products are just becoming even more active on your skin because of the micro channels you’ve created – think of the greatest water park slide and imagine your products travelling down the slide and into your skin (see if that doesn’t make you smile then you need to go to a waterpark)
How do I clean it?
I would use surgical spirt or Environ Cleaning Solution which effectively cleans and sterilises the device. You fill the container of the roller to the marked point on the packaging (this is why you should never through away the packaging after you get your roller – SO many of my clients do this) and then let it rest for 10-15 minutes in the solution.
Do not leave it overnight as it will rust the roller. Then wash the cleaning solution off with water and allow to air dry before storing again. Clean once a week and do not share your roller with anyone – not even your mum, sister, nan or auntie – no one (not even your identical twin). You all have different bacteria on your skin, even identical twins, and you don’t want your bacteria disrupting someone else’s, creates big problems on the skin. Similar situation to unclean needles, contamination no, no.
